Lloyd Benjamin: Objects and Silhouettes

08.05.23 - 09.02.23

Wolfgang Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition, Objects and Silhouettes, by American artist Lloyd Benjamin.

Lloyd Benjamin's work reads as tectonic abstractions. By drawing inspiration from the impressions of his studio practice, Benjamin's artwork manifests impermanence, rhythm, and improvisation through silhouetted pilasters both absent and present. Benjamin's exploration of form and the interplay between space and materiality manifests on paper, collage, and sculpture.

Benjamin's vibrant outlines by spray enamel, drips, stains, and calligraphic lines infuse his compositions with energy and fluidity. Benjamin uses his studio as a transformative space for creative exploration, echoing the dynamic processes observed in the studio of abstract expressionist sculptor, David Smith. Through his chosen techniques and materials, Benjamin achieves a harmonious balance between structure and spontaneity. His art invites viewers to embark on a visual journey that reflects on the influence of an explorative process.
